The SLD 5550 incorporates a fixed normal sensitivity which is automatically selected when the instrument is turned on. This level of sensitivity is adequate for locating most leaks. A digitally selected sensitivity adjustment is also offered. By pressing the SENSITIVITY key, any one of ten sensitivity levels can be selected, allowing leaks less than 1/2 ounce (15 grams) per year of HFC-134a to be detected.
The exclusive LOCK-OUT mode of operation is offered to allow easy detection and pinpointing of a leak in the presence of background contamination. This new and unique concept measures and records the highest concentration of refrigerant detected by the lon-Pump, and automatically ignores or "Locks-Out"concentrations of refrigerants less than the highest, systematically eliminating all background contamination and sounding a distinctive two-tone alarm only at the source of the leak.
To save battery power, an automatic power-off switch is featured which will turn the instrument off after approximately 15 minutes of operation. A low battery indicator alerts the user when batteries need replacement.
With its custom microcomputer, the SLD 5550 is fully temperature, drift, and gain compensated, providing consistent and reliable operation under all environmental conditions.
